We are accepting applications for a Technology teacher who is an engaging, experienced educator devoted to deepening a robust technology curriculum and developing creative opportunities for technological engagement among highly motivated students. The school seeks to hire and retain employees who are skilled in their field, involved participants in the school community, active in their faith and enthusiastically dedicated to carrying out the mission of the school.  Flexibility, a collaborative and professional spirit, excellent communication skills and a commitment to Catholic education are essential.

Responsibilities include teaching middle school technology, including coding; integrating digital proficiency learning into the Freshman Studies curriculum; coaching the junior and senior robotics club and encouraging greater participation in competitive robotic events; implementing  a progressive plan for technology education that includes a student-centered technology center for research and media; cultivating partnerships with other Ursuline schools for technology innovations and design thinking opportunities that enhance the educational programs of the Academy.  The incumbent will conduct professional development sessions for other faculty members, and direct student workshops and parent tech training. 

Candidates should possess strong skills to troubleshoot network connectivity, operating system and device issues so as to contribute in a “help desk” capacity for both students and faculty, particularly providing assistance in using G-Suite for Education, e-text apps, and an assortment of apps used for project-based learning.

Preferred candidates will have 3-4 years’ experience teaching at the middle and secondary level; embrace inquiry-based practices; possess strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact positively with students, parents and colleagues; be flexible and adaptable to the changing nature of technology in schools; be available for weekend robotics competitions and occasional evening parent events; and be committed to ongoing professional development in computer science education. All candidates are expected to work independently; possess strong verbal, writing and organizational skills with attention to detail and follow through, demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary collaboration, and a positive attitude.  Candidates should be versed in tech specs:  Windows, MAC, IOS, Chromebooks, and variety of applications including  Adobe Creative Suite, Interactive Whiteboards, SmartNotebook, Office and G-Suite for Education. Candidates should be familiar with the FIRST/FIRST Lego League program protocols and related time investment of approximately five hours a week for coaching the robotics clubs.
