The Odyssey School provides an excellent education to children five years old through middle school who have been diagnosed with dyslexia and other language learning differences.  Odyssey offers an educational program using proven teaching methods, small group instruction, and daily reading tutoring for individual skill building.  The Odyssey School is located on a 42 acre campus in Stevenson, Maryland.

The Odyssey School is seeking to fill a full time technology position for the 2017-2018   academic year.  The position consists of three main components including: technology instruction to students, faculty development and collaborative work with a four member technology team.

Position Description

Technology instruction responsibilities require that candidates must have experience in teaching technology skills to students in grades one through six.  Experience with office applications, coding, online research databases and the implementation of a 1:1 program are required. Faculty development responsibilities require that applicants have experience with instructing and supporting faculty in both formal and informal settings, and in ad hoc situations as they present. Technology Team member responsibilities include participating in the planning and implementation of  technology efforts, being part of the “help desk” for all members of the school community, supporting the 1:1 tablet program, managing the School’s iPad collection, managing assistive technology used at the School, and helping to manage an online Learning Management System.

  • Bachelor’s Degree coupled with experience in technology instruction.
  • Excellent communication, motivation  and teaching skills
  • A thorough knowledg e about concepts of information technology
  • Excellent analytical and observation skills
  • Ability to be friendly and compassionate with children
  • Excellent planning and organization skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Some background or connection with students with learning differences is also a plus
