Summary of Duties:

The Training Developer resides in the Financial Training Department, within the Office of the Controller. Financial Training offers relevant training regarding the university's financial policies, procedures and systems for employees with fiscal responsibilities. This term position will last through January 2022 and will be dedicated to developing learning and performance support for the financial policies, procedures, and process changes that align with the implementation of a new Financials' system. This position will require a fast-paced, rapid developer.

The incumbent employs instructional design methodologies to systematically develop instructional specifications and Financial Training content using learning and instructional theory to ensure the quality of instruction from inception through implementation. Responsible for the translation of course content and/or concepts that supports learning following accepted design standards created during the instructional development process.

Develops and deploys computer-based training and interactive e-learning courses and training modules. Collaborates with subject-matter experts to develop or enhance content and utilize best-practice mechanisms to deliver content to learners. Shares expertise in the development and use of e-learning methodologies for course design. Creates or documents development standards, templates and story boards. Manages e-learning content vendors and liaises with internal and external technical resources to ensure connectivity. Engages with technical and business resources to ensure courses are properly assigned to learners.

As a Training Developer, incumbent enhances workforce skill, capability and effectiveness through design, implementation and administration of programs including onboarding, training and learning for staff, managers, and leaders. Measures the effectiveness of learning and development programs in attracting, developing, motivating, and retaining a productive and engaged workforce. Learning and development programs support the overall talent management strategy by contributing to the creation of a high-performance, sustainable organization that meets its strategic and operational objectives. Responsible for maintaining inventory of learning support materials, liaising with vendors, ensuring integrity of learning records, and invoice management.

Uses technology-based learning interventions, programming skills, adult learning principles, project management techniques, and instructional design methodologies to analyze, research, implement, plan, design, and evaluate learning activities and user tests; operates technology tools and software to integrate knowledge and learning experiences with software tools to improve the business performance (e.g., Captivate, Articulate, Dreamweaver, cascading style sheets, Flash, Photoshop, Snag-It) of financial and fiscal professionals throughout campus; trains other FTD staff members on use of technology tools; assists with instructor-led learning as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, workforce development, education, graphic design, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; student teaching or two years of experience in assessing, researching, designing, developing, evaluating and delivering instruction and associated materials for adult learners; two years of experience in use of software and/or application systems to create and deliver accessible, technology-based training (e.g., Captivate, Articulate, Dreamweaver, CourseMill, Lectora); 18 months of experience using Microsoft Office; six months of experience in web art manipulation programs (e.g., Flash, Photoshop); one of year experience with learning management systems (e.g., Cornerstone, Moodle, D2L); strong facilitation and presentation skills; strong project management skills; competence in dealing with diverse populations.

Desired Qualifications:

Master’s degree in a related field; four years of experience in assessing, researching, designing, developing, evaluating and delivering instruction and associated materials for adult learners; four years of experience in use of software and/or application systems to create and deliver accessible, technology-based training (e.g., Captivate, Articulate, Dreamweaver, CourseMill, Lectora); one year of experience in web art manipulation programs (e.g., Flash, Photoshop); two years of experience using programming languages (e.g., html, dhtml, xml, css, javascript).

Target Salary: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 Annually
