Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School, a community Jewish day school, seeks an energetic, forward thinking and flexible elementary school technology teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. The successful candidate will be professional and collaborative, will possess personal integrity, and will be enthusiastic about participating in our community of lifelong learners. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Work cooperatively and supportively with colleagues in planning and implementing a balanced, creative, and challenging technology program in a “device agnostic” environment (desktops, laptops, tablets, Chromebooks, iPads, Google Classroom…)

  • Work with teachers to develop curriculum in support of technology including digital literacy, skills and etiquette, as well as STEAM, Makerspace, and Project Based Learning opportunities

  • Provide direct instruction for Kindergarten through grade five, as well as support to help teachers utilize and integrate technology throughout the program

  • Participate in faculty meetings, committees and school wide activities

  • Establish and maintain standards of excellence for supervision and student engagement

  • Plan and ensure that curriculum and lessons are geared to meet the needs of multiple levels of ability and a wide range of learners

Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree, (Advanced degree and/or Teaching Credential desired yet not required), and relevant experience working with elementary age students

  • A strong understanding of differentiated instruction, 21st century skills, 3D printing, emerging technologies, MakerSpaces, and project-based-learning 

  • Comfort/expertise with technology for communications and instruction

  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with people of all levels in a professional and constructive manner

  • Strong written and oral skills (parent communications, progress reports, program development)

  • Flexibility to work in multiple settings and shared facilities

  • Desire to engender a love of learning as well as a caring, professional demeanor, and the willingness to work as part of multiple teams (grade level team, general and Judaic studies teachers, specialist teachers, and administration)

  • Enthusiasm for ongoing professional development

Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School is a TK through eighth grade Jewish community day school. Its 76,000 square foot facility includes a gymnasium/auditorium, a library, a lunch pavilion, an Innovation Center/STEAM Lab, elementary and middle school media labs, elementary and middle school science labs, art and music classrooms, playgrounds, and an athletic field.
