Hawken School is seeking a full-time upper school Librarian/Instructional Technologist for the 2016-2017 school year. One of Hawken’s principles, to appreciate difference and individuality, is at the forefront in our search and we are keenly interested in candidates with a proven commitment to engaging in and promoting a diverse, multicultural community.The role reports directly to the Director of Technology, Library & Media Services and is part of a collaborative team that includes the instructional technologist and the librarian at the Lower/Middle School. The essential duties/responsibilities of this position include:

Partner with teachers and students to integrate contemporary tools to approach inquiry-based problem solving.
Collaborate with and/or provide instructional support to faculty to integrate information and media literacy into larger curriculum.
Provide various forms of instruction directly to students (such as teaching digital and media design as a launching pad for electronic portfolio development).
Traditional library management tasks.
Provide vision and support as Hawken moves toward a learning commons model.

As part of a major capital improvement project the library has been redesigned to create a space that supports a learning commons model. The person hired for this role will have significant voice in determining the scope and mission of this new space.

QUALIFICATIONS: Hawken School seeks a dynamic and innovative individual committed to exploring electronic resources as a means of promoting the school’s forward-focused mission in curriculum. Candidates must possess demonstrated competence in program development relating to advancing information and media literacy. Proven record of using electronic resources to improve research methods, and designing problem-based education experiences. Skillset must include library collection development and management of print and non-print materials, digital media skills, Web 2.0 technologies, and basic web applications. A Master’s degree in Library and Information Science with an instructional technology focus is preferred.
