Responsibilities

The Upper School Technology Integration Specialist supports teachers and students in the use of technology to foster growth in learning, critical thinking, collaboration skills, creativity, innovation, and self-expression. The specialist will coach faculty in integrating developmentally appropriate technologies both to support the teachers’ curricular objectives and to help them understand and teach the core technology skills students need to be efficient scholars, effective communicators, global citizens, and life-long learners.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Teach eLearning Fundamentals to ninth grade class.
• Design and implement technology orientations in the Upper School for students and faculty, including the Acceptable Use Policy, digital citizenship, and access to school-provided accounts.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers in the development of lesson plans and learning activities that meaningfully and purposefully include the use of technology.
• Coach faculty on a wide range of technologies, both hardware and software, including but not limited to desktops, laptops, tablets, document cameras, digital cameras, video cameras, productivity applications, multimedia tools and software for capturing and editing images, audio, and video, web applications, social media, and emerging technologies.
• Support Upper School technology initiatives, including pilots, BYOD and 1:1 programs to plan, design, create, and implement faculty and student training and ongoing support.

• Develop training and tutorial materials for faculty and students: conducting face-to-face workshops, creating web-based learning activities, and crafting print and electronic tutorials.

• Support faculty and student use of school-provided technologies such as G suite, Atomic Learning, VoiceThread, iPad applications, and software / applications selected by faculty for their courses and divisions.
• Coach faculty and students in troubleshooting basic software, hardware, and connectivity problems.
• Lead the Upper School educational technology team to address specific goals and needs, including the yearly evaluation and revision of the technology scope and sequence.
• Participate in the K-12 Educational Technology Committee to address school-wide technology goals, needs, and emerging issues and to contribute to the planning, development, communication, implementation, and evaluation of a shared vision for the K-12 educational technology program.
• Engage in continuous professional development to deepen content and pedagogical knowledge and skills in technology integration; conduct ongoing research into best practices and emerging instructional technologies and regularly share ideas with the community.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree. Advanced degree(s) preferred.
• Demonstrated experience applying technology in an educational environment.

• At least three to five years of teaching experience preferred.
• Ability to teach computer science a plus.
• Ability to manage competing demands and adapt to frequent or unexpected changes.
• Ability to work collaboratively and methodically with students, parents, faculty, and staff on a regular basis.
• Ability to use effective class management techniques.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Work in an environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines, as well as a diverse array of contacts.
• Work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment.
• Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
