The Town School, a nursery through 8th grade school of 400 students on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, seeks an Upper School Technology Integrator for grades 5 through 8. Town embraces high academic and ethical standards for each student, and all members of the community are guided by our school motto, “let there be joy in learning.” As a member of both the Upper School and Technology Department, this position reports directly to the Director of Technology. Acting as a teacher, mentor, role model and professional development specialist, the Technology Integrator will help The Town School blend technology into school curriculum. In particular, the Technology Integrator will:

1) Provide strategic leadership in the area of curriculum integration and our 1 to 1 program in the daily classes of the Upper School.

2) Work with the Division Head, and Director of Technology on a regular basis to ensure that the use of technology in the Upper School is curriculum driven, age-appropriate and is consistent with the “best practices” model of technology integration.

3) Act as a resource in providing academic and technical support for Upper School faculty, students, and staff.

4) Provide a collegial, open, and supportive environment in the division.

5) Coordinate programs for educating the Upper School (administration, faculty, staff, students, and parents) about issues related to instructional technology.

6) Preside over extra-curricular technology programs during the day and after school

7) Work with the Director of Technology in representing the school at workshops, conferences, and professional meetings (NAIS, NYCIST, NYSAIS).

8) Remain current in relevant curricular issues and trends in educational technologies through research and communication with professional organizations and colleagues at other schools.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required, Master's in Education or Educational Technology preferred
Experience teaching and catering to the developmental needs of middle school.
Knowledge of current pedagogical strategies and technology trends, and high level of proficiency with educational technology.
Flexibility, creativity, an ability to work with a variety of learning styles and age levels.
Effective and supportive communication skills including the ability to explain technology issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience with iOS software, apps, and iPad functionality, Google Apps for Education, Learning Management Systems (preferable Schoology), Interactive White Boards (preferably Smartboards) and a willingness to become expert in other products as necessary.
Knowledge and ability to teach coding and Maker curriculum(s)
