General Information

The Upper School Technology teacher is responsible for teaching courses in Technology. Specific teaching content may include computer programming, computer applications, and support in the areas of robotics, biotech and STEM. The successful candidate will be able to incorporate different styles of teaching and varied approaches to engage students and assist their learning.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and must be able to demonstrate active membership and involvement in an evangelical local church.

A Bachelor’s degree is required.  A Master’s degree in Technology Education or a related field with at least three years of teaching experience is preferred.  Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment experience is a plus.

Job Description

  1. Plan for and teach up to five classes
  2. Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences centered around Biblical principles
  3. Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process
  4. Encourage students to think independently, creatively and critically and to express original ideas
  5. Teach content and skills in Technology and related subjects
  6. Assess the progress of the students and offer assistance when necessary
  7. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis
  8. Supervise/sponsor at least one co-curricular and/or extra-curricular activity each year as part of the required teaching responsibility
  9. Serve as a spiritual small group leader for 8-12 same-gender students
  10. Observe and collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment
  11. Assist with development and implementation of interdisciplinary curriculum
  12. Maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures
  13. Participate in admission activities as needed and assigned
  14. Adhere to the bylaws, policies and procedures, and to all laws that govern the school and its actions
  15. Other responsibilities as assigned by administration (including participating in retreat and Minimester activities which may require overnight student supervision)
