Maryville University, one of the top five fastest growing private higher education institutions, located in the western suburbs of St. Louis, is seeking a dynamic UX and Emerging Technologies Strategist. This innovative position reports to the Director of the Library within the Division of Student Success. The successful candidate must be committed to fostering a culturally diverse atmosphere for faculty, staff, and students.

  • Conduct in depth User Experience (UX) testing for library resources and services
  • Actively seek out new technologies to support library and University values
  • Evaluate potential applications of Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality across academic resource environments
  • Work with the library team, faculty and staff to develop and expand online services and learning
  • Design and deploy innovative applications for LibGuides, the library’s website management system
  • Coordinate the increasing automation of library services
  • Participate in efforts to enhance and transform physical and virtual spaces based on user focused service model
  • Actively serve as the library representative in the University Apple iPad initiative (Digital World)
  • Work with faculty to develop critical thinking projects and initiatives among the student population
  • Aid in the development of web-based library instruction material
  • Provide troubleshooting and usage analytics for library databases and website
  • Through the development of collaborative and cross-functional relationships, help to express the University’s core values and their relation to the library
  • Serve as library liaison for assigned departments and academic programs across the University
  • Participate in library-wide initiatives such as collection management, assessment, and strategic planning
  • Provide reference, user education, and research services as needed
  • Supervise the work of student employees as needed

Work Hours: 

  • 40 hours per week. The University Library is open from 7 am – midnight, Monday through Friday and 9 am – 7 pm, Saturday and Sunday. Variable hours as required with the ability to be flexible.
