Westerly School, an independent Kindergarten-8th Grade Day School in Long Beach, is seeking a part-time Virtual Access Coordinator for the 2020-21 school year to work with faculty, students, and parents to support Virtual Access students (students who remotely access school from home). The ideal candidate would be available to begin immediately.

Westerly serves a diverse population of approximately 170 students from the greater Long Beach area in modern spacious classrooms. The school serves a wide range of ethnic, racial and economic diverse students and families. Tuition assistance serves about 40% of the population. The school offers a vibrant and rigorous academic program complemented by a well-developed set of enrichment offerings. The school embraces both traditional and innovative teaching methods delivering connected and integrated lessons. Westerly has a strong tradition of addressing the needs of the whole child. Students benefit from small classes, a caring faculty, and expert instruction in art, vocal and instrumental music, Spanish, and physical education. Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical or logistical support to faculty, students, and parents

    • Support various platforms such as Google Classroom, Zoom, GSuite, Document Cameras, SeeSaw and other tools currently used

    • Support multiple device types: iPad, Chromebooks, and MacBooks

    • Support internet connectivity on campus to faculty and students

    • Troubleshoot and resolve problems with learning equipment and applications.

    • Assist students and parents with mobile device issues, access to content

  • Train faculty members directly, and coordinate external training sources, in the use or support of virtual learning tools & applications.

    • Create tutorials for virtual learning platforms: GSuite, Zoom, SeeSaw, and other identified systems

    • Monitor virtual lessons and provide feedback to improve the students’ experience.

    • Review distance learning content and provide feedback to teachers.

  • Monitor technological developments in virtual learning and share with the team.

    • Analyze data to assess the status of the virtual learning program to inform decisions for the future.

    • Source virtual learning resources, such as course offerings, classrooms, laboratories, equipment, and web sites.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts degree, A.A., A.S. or similar

  • Education Technology experience preferred

  • Ability to work cooperatively with other professional staff.

  • Ability to maintain collaborative relationships and communicate effectively with students, teachers, administrators, staff, parents and community members

  • Experience / proficiency in online learning management systems

  • Experience with a variety of online enrichment systems - GSuites, SeeSaw, Zoom

  • Professional and collaborative demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative

  • Understands academic and social characteristics of K - 8 students

  • Creates a positive structured learning environment

  • Excellent organization, time management and follow-up skills; high sense of commitment; ability to work as part of a team

  • Ability to establish rapport with families, children, and colleagues

Salary is commensurate with experience.
