The John Thomas Dye School, an independent K-6 school located in Los Angeles, is currently seeking a full-time Web Developer and Communications Manager. The John Thomas Dye School provides for its students a program of academic excellence, one both traditional and dynamic, with a commitment to family and community. The school encourages its students to reach their highest individual potential intellectually, artistically and physically; it nurtures their emotional, moral and social development; and it prepares them to meet the challenges of a diverse and competitive world. 

The experienced Web Developer and Communications Manager will coordinate the School’s digital communication efforts, managing the School's website, digital news content, and social media channels.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensures consistency of message and presentation in digital communications

  • Conducts regular outreach to JTD faculty and staff in order to feature classroom, student, and faculty experiences in external and internal communications

  • Coordinates all-school and community-wide communications, including The Chalkboard, the weekly school newsletter and the Parents' Association Monthly

  • Manages the school website, enhancing website design, platform, and content management

  • Works with Admissions Department to maintain strong online presence for prospective students and community relations 

  • Coordinates the photographing and videoing of school events

  • Maintains an organized digital photo/video archive for School use, which will be available to the School Community

  • Develops strategies to increase the social media presence of the school, while managing the School’s current social media content

  • Assists with special projects and events as identified by the Director of Advancement

  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and follow-up

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to demonstrate professionalism and diplomacy working with parents, students, faculty, staff, and outside vendors

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills

  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality

  • Proven time management skills with the ability to manage duties and tasks efficiently and effectively

  • Ability to work successfully in a collaborative, cooperative and collegial workplace

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or two to three (2-3) years of previous experience in a marketing or communications role; experience in an independent school setting preferred

  • Experience with basic website management (HTML). Previous experience working with Blackbaud/Whipple Hill is preferred

  • Experience with social media strategy

  • Proficient knowledge of G Suite and MS Office

  • Proficient knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, and other related software for graphic design
