Job Summary

Under the general direction of the University Student Services and Systems (USSS), Manager of Departmental Computing, the Web Developer/Analyst is responsible for the development and programming of web services infrastructure and multi-campus support applications, design, functionality, research, and technology deployment for USSS multi-campus Information Services operations (i.e. admissions, student records, financial aid, and student financials). Conducts the analysis, planning, development and implementation of the core technical web services system infrastructure and serve as the technical and security expert for web based site infrastructure such as preventing cross-site scripting and SQL injections. Implements best practices including object oriented programming and design patterns.

Analyzes complex technical problems and assists with the development of web applications. Codes, tests, and documents sites that execute in HTML5, CSS 3, jQuery, MySQL, Cold Fusion, Oracle, JavaScript/AJAX, PHP, XML, Angular JS, and Java. Provides technical and operational expertise effectively supporting, troubleshooting, and resolving printing, web, file, database, and application services.

Responsible for the design and development of data structures and programs to generate university-wide applications, reports, and queries using a variety of institutional data files and tables. This position performs coordination, analysis and systems tasks to include report design and programming, data testing and preparation of documentation. Supports the functional and technical teams when there are new releases or modifications of application software. Position collaborates with other system and business analysts to insure data accessibility and integrity.

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or another analytical field and two years of programming experience.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Training/experience with SQL, CSS 3, HTML 5, JavaScript/AJAX, Cold Fusion, and PHP. Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving aptitudes as well as strong verbal and communications skills.
