Job Description

The Librarian – Systems/Web Services will assist the leadership of Library Services in the planning and delivery of library services to Camden County College students, faculty, and staff with a strong commitment to customer service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  1. Lead in the overall development, implementation and maintenance of library technology. 

  2. Coordinate the development, management and assessment of the library’s online presence, including but not limited to the library web site, mobile site and vendor-hosted digital products. 

  3. Oversee cataloging of resources. 

  4. Investigate technologies to improve access and delivery of digital resources and services.

  5. Help resolve issues surrounding off-campus access to online resources and services.

  6. Work with the Camden County Public Library to ensure optimal operation of the shared integrated library system and open source initiatives.

  7. Serve as the library’s representative to the College’s Office of Information Technology.

  8. Generate statistical reports to monitor use of library resources and services.

  9. Plan usability studies as needed.

  10. Provide technical training to library staff as needed. 

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  1. Provide reference assistance and research support for students, faculty, and staff as well as community library users.

  2. Teach library instruction sessions and participate in other information literacy initiatives as needed.

  3. Contribute to library marketing and outreach efforts including displays and special events.

  4. Remain current with respect to library and community college related literature.

  5. Help make the library building a comfortable and inviting environment for teaching and learning.

  6. Participate and assist with special projects as needed.

  7. Participate in college governance.

  8. Comply with all safety, fire, and smoking regulations.

  9. Complete all mandatory compliance and safety training as scheduled by Human Resources.

  10. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Master’s Degree (ALA accredited preferred) in Library Science required.

  2. Experience working as a librarian in an academic library.

  3. Experience developing and maintaining a library web site preferred.

  4. Experience using and managing an integrated library system preferred.

  5. Experience managing library electronic resources preferred.

  6. Up-to-date in the use of emerging library information technologies, including mobile devices.

  7. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

  8. Proficiency with common workplace computing applications.
