Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School, located in Gwynedd Vally, PA seeks a Director of STEM Education. This STEM Faculty Leader position is a Ten-month, full-time faculty member beginning August 2021.

School Profile
Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School is an independent, all-girls Catholic college preparatory school founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1861, serving a population of 400 students (grades 9-12), in Lower Gwynedd, Pennsylvania.  An average class size of 18 students is supported by a faculty and staff of 70+ professionals, with a 1:10 faculty/student ratio.  Students are offered participation in over 35 different clubs, multiple service opportunities, and 12 sports.  100% of our students choose to further their learning in opportunities for post-secondary education.  

Position Description 
Responsibilities:

  • Development of a dynamic and engaging STEM curriculum in partnership with colleagues in various STEM-related departments

  • Design of STEM-related lesson plans and project-based learning activities in partnership with colleagues in various STEM-related departments

  • Instruction in STEM-related courses for students of varying grade levels that is infused with a knowledge of STEM best practices

  • Ongoing evaluation and updating of STEM curricular content and materials that contribute to a holistic education

  • Consultation with the Technology Department to integrate technological resources and varied classroom strategies that maximize student learning 

  • Participation in a STEM Advisory Council that represents a variety of constituents

  • Financial responsibility that includes the management of a budget and potential grant writing

Education and Experience

  • Candidates must have a Master’s degree in a STEM related field, with a minimum of five years of teaching experience preferred.  Candidate should have excellent communication and organization skills.

  • PA Teaching Certification preferred. 

  • FBI and Criminal Background clearances.
