St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, a vibrant and diverse PK-12 independent, college preparatory day school, is seeking a dynamic, team-oriented, and experienced educational leader to serve as the next Lower School Technology Integrationist and Maker Instructor.

Founded in 1947 and serving more than 1100 students over fifteen years of educational opportunities (PK3-12), St. Andrew’s Episcopal School has two campuses: the Lower School located in Jackson, the capital city of Mississippi, and the Upper and Middle Schools located on a spacious 75-acre campus five minutes away in the suburb of Ridgeland. St. Andrew's boasts nationally recognized programs in global studies and speech and debate, 37 of the 42 State AP Scholars from Mississippi, the top-ranked athletic program in the state for schools its size (for 18 of the last 20 years), and an impressive record with college admissions and placement -- both within Mississippi and at the most competitive schools in the nation. Serving on the south campus, s/he will report directly to the Lower School Division Head and the Chief Information Officer. Above all else, this person will drive the digital technology agenda in the lower school for teachers and students. Breaking those two components of the role apart, duties would include the following:

Teacher support and collaboration
? foster a culture of trust and collaboration
? serve as a thought partner about the ways in which technology can positively impact teaching and learning
? motivate and inspire teachers to use technology through positive attitude and willing spirit
? develop and deliver technical training sessions and workshops throughout the year, summer training programs for faculty based upon needs and requests, and online tutorials of basic skills for reference
? act as a resource for teachers to help them implement age-appropriate (3yrs - 10 yrs) technology into lesson plans
? equip teachers to utilize technology to develop alternative assessment
? adapt current informational material to be used online (Haiku)
? help faculty develop blended learning environments
? assist with setup or technical assistance
? ensure that all teachers are able to utilize appropriate digital technology effectively
? possess comfort with a variety of age groups (3 - 10 years old)

Administrative / Systems Support
? become fluent in our current iteration of the Haiku Digital Learning Platform
? assist IT department with equipment needs, basic hardware / software troubleshooting, and keeping inventory
? assist the Lower School Head with online and social media presence
? research and evaluate new software offerings
? assist IT department in the assessment and acquisition of new technologies
? work with IT department to orient new faculty

S/he will possess intermediate to advanced skill in the use of Microsoft Office applications, Windows 7 and OS X, basic knowledge of various hardware and networking, equipment setup, and social media and application to education environment. More specifically, s/he will have intermediate knowledge of age-appropriate programming languages such as Scratch, TurtleArt/Logo, Tynker, and Kibo; the creation of interactive digital objects using tools such as the Makey Makey, LittleBits, and PicoBoards; the basics of editing video and sound using age appropriate tools; and Lego robotics including possibly WeDo and Mindstorms NXT.

This is a full-time, twelve-month position, with salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have attained a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) and will have experience working in an elementary classroom and corresponding knowledge of best pedagogical practices. In keeping with the Characteristics of Excellence for all faculty and staff at St. Andrew's, s/he also will be self-motivated, flexible, organized, growth-oriented, and technologically savvy. S/he will be willing to initiate a new technology integrationist strategy at the school and will work with all grades to integrate maker activities as an enhancement of, and growth opportunity for, the broader school curriculum. We are in the midst of planning a new Makerspace and this position would be deeply involved in the direction of the program.
