Director, Data & Systems
ROLE SUMMARY
Reporting to the Vice President, Data & Systems, the Director, Data & Systems will serve a vital role in Alliance’s data analysis, reporting, and storage needs. Overseeing the Data & Systems team, the Director will ensure timely and accurate delivery of actionable data to a variety of stakeholders in order to enable decision-making that leads to improved scholar's academic outcomes and organizational health at Alliance. The Director, Data & Systems will also provide cross-functional leadership of Alliance’s data function across teams.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership

Manage the Data & Systems team, including weekly professional development, weekly team meetings, annual strategic planning, and ongoing task allocation;

Supervise three or more direct reports, including Managers and Associates, ensuring accurate and timely completion of project deliverables;

Manage the development and professional growth of direct reports to ensure a strong, flexible talent pipeline;

Delegate tasks and projects to team members and direct these team members to the tools and resources needed to meet individual goals and deliverables;

Review team members’ work and provide ongoing, timely, relevant, and constructive feedback to team members.
Data Analysis and Reporting

Oversee ongoing development of BigQuery data warehouse and enterprise suite of Tableau reports, including scholar data, operational data, and more.

Report academic, demographic, and other data to school leaders, senior network leaders, government agencies, private foundations, etc.;

Develop and maintain dashboards to help understand and monitor academic performance and organizational health of Alliance.
Systems and Vendor Management

Manage the network’s use of third-party platforms including Tableau, BiqQuery (data warehouse), Panorama (scholar, parent, and staff survey data), Freshdesk (ticketing system), etc.
Compliance

Manage CALPADS / compliance reporting and data audits.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

At least 4 years of progressive professional work experience in statistical analysis or social science and A Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university
OR
-
At least 6 years of progressive professional work experience in statistical analysis or social science and a high school diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED)
-
Experience using STATA, SPSS, R, or Python preferred

Experience using Tableau preferred

Experience using SQL preferred
-
Experience using student information systems (e.g., PowerSchool) preferred
-
Direct supervisory experience required
WORK LOCATION
This position is a hybrid role which will include a combination of working from home, our network office, and travel to school sites. The successful candidate will be given a $400 work-from-home set-up allowance and receive a monthly stipend of $100.

Relocation: Individuals residing outside of the Greater Los Angeles area are eligible for a relocation bonus of $5,000 for individuals and $7,500 for new staff with families/partners.

Paid Leave: Regular full-time 12-month employees receive 8.5 weeks of vacation and paid time off. Additionally, full-time employees accrue 3 weeks of flexible paid time off per year and receive 27 other paid holidays as part of our network calendar.

Professional Development: At Alliance, we believe in supporting staff growth and development. Home Office staff are allocated $500 per year for professional development expenses.
