SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Technology, the Network Administrator analyzes, designs, services, problem solves, maintains, monitors, and manages The Center's network infrastructure, including voice and data asset protection.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Design, implement, and maintain the school's wired and wireless network infrastructure, ensuring scalability to support educational technologies.
  • Manage, maintain, and install all network servers, including Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, backup, content/SPAM filter, storage, and voice/phone; maintain the connection to the Internet, routing, DNS, IP, and PRI.
  • Safeguard The Center's network from cyber-attacks by ensuring OS, software and virus definition updates are current on all servers and computers.
  • Implement and manage network security measures such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems to protect sensitive data (e.g., student records, staff information).
  • Ensure compliance with relevant educational data protection regulations (e.g., FERPA, CIPA) and work with legal and compliance teams on maintaining data privacy standards.
  • Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to safeguard the institution's IT infrastructure.
  • Provide Tier 2 support for network issues, working closely with helpdesk and IT support staff to resolve network-related problems affecting students, faculty, and staff.
  • Troubleshoot network outages or connectivity issues in a timely manner to minimize disruption to the educational process.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of network architecture, configurations, and procedures.
  • Ensure that proper back-ups of all systems are completed on a regular basis, including On-Prem and Cloud data.
  • Oversee installation and repair of telephone systems, data terminals, and networks.
  • Provide hands-on assistance and troubleshoot all phone equipment failures and service issues for all end users.
  • Maintain all communication systems, including phone, PA system, and clocks.
  • Remain current with the latest technology and information security developments in network administration and recommend enhancements to current systems.
  • Analyze products and make recommendations on the use of new products, methods, procedures, and services.
  • Investigate and respond to security incidents, breaches, and vulnerabilities.
  • Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 5+ years of experience in network administration, preferably in an educational institution or similar environment. Experience managing mid-scale networks with diverse user bases, including students, faculty, and administrative staff. Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or CISSP are preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, including managing cloud-based infrastructures, services, and security configurations, is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF).
  • Experience with security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, and network access control.
  • Familiarity with educational technologies (e.g., LMS, SIS) and cloud-based services (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365).
  • Knowledge of wireless networking technologies to support campus-wide Wi-Fi.
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace, including monitoring and securing user accounts, data, and applications.
