Rochambeau, The French International School of Washington, DC (Rochambeau), has an immediate opening for a Director of Information Technology - Full-time

Location: Bethesda, MD 
Reports to: Executive Director

Salary Information: The salary range is $115,000-$130,000 USD annually. This position is eligible for enrollment in health, dental, and vision benefits, 403(b) retirement plan, bonuses, and paid time off.

Position summary: 

Reporting to the Executive Director, this position provides operational and technology leadership in the strategic design, implementation, and support of organization-wide information technology services and infrastructure.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic technology plan for the school.
  • Provide leadership and oversee the day-to-day management of the IT department, including data network and backup systems, firewall and security issues, security systems, databases, servers, equipment, and telephone systems.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies for classroom and administrative uses or to improve the current infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with faculty, department chairs, and division heads to deploy and integrate age-/grade-appropriate technology applications across the school.
  • Manages the 1:1 program in the school
  • Manage vendor relations, procurement, installation, and implementation of information systems.
  • Ensure the coordination, security, and efficiency of network infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain the school’s databases and internal and external networks.
  • Collaborate with the school directors for teaching, learning, and innovation in their respective campus.
  • Oversee the management of all IT inventory.
  • Provide maintenance and support for all IT resources. 
  • Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and provide strategic direction for the IT staff.
  • Develop and manage the IT budget.
  • Stay current on trends and new developments in the areas of educational technologies, software, hardware, networks, telecommunications, training, and maintenance.
  • Take an active role in professional activities and attend relevant professional meetings and conferences.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

 Requirements:

Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required; relevant professional certifications are preferred.

Experience: 

  • 10+ years of experience that includes IT leadership within a PMO and successful delivery of diverse IT programs (including both applications & infrastructure)
  • Successful management and delivery of IT systems, preferably in a school environment; experience in building systems in a prioritized and phased approach.
  • Experience managing IT for a $37 million organization in an agile environment. 
  • Experience supervising 3+ employees. 
  • Candidate must have the ability to attract and retain key staff. 
  • Hands-on experience preferred. This role is on-site daily.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While primarily a sedentary role in an office setting, duties may include frequent use of a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone. Occasional standing, walking, reaching, and bending may be required. The ability to lift and transport IT equipment, such as computers, monitors, and peripherals, weighing up to 50 pounds, may be necessary on an infrequent basis.
