The Director of Technology, under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, will provide for the management and security of information through the use of technology resources in support of the School’s mission and values.  This individual will take a leadership role in developing and implementing the School’s technology plan and leading a team of technology professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Support the strategic planning process to meet the School’s mission, technology strategies, action plans, and objectives
  • Lead the School’s Technology team and guide the team members in their professional growth and training
  • Develop plans to accomplish the School’s technology mission and vision
  • Direct and monitor the work of outsourced IT service providers
  • Coordinate the preparation and approval of resource plans and budgets in support of school objectives
  • Manage the overall acquisition of hardware and software and maintain accurate inventories of equipment and licensing
  • Maintain working knowledge of the School’s systems (e.g., instructional, financial, facilities, security, and others) in order to provide leadership regarding how technology supports them
  • Assure the security and validity of School data through the development and oversight of security and disaster recovery procedures and incident response plans
  • Provide how-to documents to faculty/staff for quick reference to frequently asked questions
  • In collaboration with the Technology team, assist users in evaluating technology needs and planning for future projects
  • Create and maintain policies for use of technology per best practices and applicable laws
  • Complete security questionnaires for audits, insurance, or compliance purposes, as required
  • Assist with server and network hardware and software upgrades and maintenance, including wireless networking equipment
  • Monitor cybersecurity tools to ensure that all tools are functioning correctly and ensure response procedures are in place
  • Maintain security measures for all systems, networks, internet, and email accounts
  • Promote a community culture that supports the safe and responsible use of technology
  • Participate as an active member of the Technology team in the day-to-day activities of supporting users, including technology and audio-visual needs

 

Experience / Qualifications and Skills

  • An understanding of the values of St. Mark’s and a desire to contribute to the community in ways that make the School the best version of itself
  • Ten or more years of experience in technology support in a corporate or school setting, preferably in an academic environment
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in management information systems, education, or related field
  • In-depth experience in the management of information systems/technology
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets
  • Experience supervising a team of technology personnel
  • Broad experience with Apple and Dell computer products with current experience with Mac OS, and iOS devices and apps
  • High-level experience and depth of knowledge of Apple client software deployment and licensing
  • Expertise in JAMF, Apple desktop apps, MS Windows OS, MS Office 365, Adobe CS software, and SMART Board applications
  • Experience working with vendors, negotiating contracts, and securing high-quality service
  • An understanding of and background in networking and wireless, coupled with the knowledge of the types of applications that run over these networks, including dual platform knowledge and support
  • Experience with audio-visual support
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Working Conditions

  • Additional support outside regularly scheduled hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holiday breaks, will occasionally be required.
  • Must be accessible by personal cell phone during school hours and occasionally off-hours.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing ladders and stairs; must be able to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds individually and up to 100 pounds with others.
