Lower School Technology Coordinator
Overall Purpose:
The Lower School (LS) Technology Coordinator / TILM Co-Teacher is a key role in determining the vision and leadership for how technology is used to support students and teachers in a sustained focus on student learning. They are responsible for researching and initiating new technologies and platforms, including those related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy, to support teachers in integrating Technology, Information Literacy, and Media (TILM) skills into the curriculum. They collaborate with classroom teachers in assessing student learning, differentiating instruction, and providing rigorous, relevant, and engaging learning experiences for all students. They also work closely with the TILM team, classroom teachers, and administrators to ensure equitable access to information and learning resources. They collaborate with colleagues to deliver timely and meaningful professional development workshops and parent education sessions. This role, and with the support of the TILM team, is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of student devices and classroom equipment. Alongside the LS Technology Specialist, this role provides relevant and timely technology support to students, faculty and staff, families and other members of the school community.
Key Goals
- Determine the vision for technology use in the Lower School to support teachers in the design, implementation, and assessment of technology-enhanced learning experiences addressing content and TILM standards
- Anticipate and deliver professional development and training sessions for the school community
- Teach students aged 4-10 in subjects related to technology, information literacy, and media alongside other classroom and specialist teachers in a leading or supporting role
- Coach teachers in and model effective use of digital tools and resources to continuously assess student learning and technology literacy by applying a rich variety of formative and summative assessments aligned with content and student TILM standards
- Create a culture of and build the capacity of the faculty to support student learning of inquiry and technology competencies
- Model leadership in technology integration and digital citizenship
- Develop and deliver education sessions and workshops for parents of Lower School students (i.e in the areas of online safety, media and information literacy, etc.)
Summary of Major Responsibilities
- Support ASL’s mission to empower each student to thrive as a lifelong learner and courageous global citizen by fostering intellect, creativity, inclusivity, and character
- Co-plan units, co-teach and support classroom teachers and specialists in integrating TILM purposefully and effectively to support instruction and learning
- Provide strategic leadership for the Lower School’s integration of emerging technologies, pedagogies and practices for instruction and student-centered learning
- Provide support, take an interest in, and have a fundamental knowledge of technology integration in early childhood and primary school
- Coordinate with division administration to structure process for systematic review and evaluation of TILM and classroom innovations
- Provide support for and leads use and implementation of web based educational platforms such as Google Workspace, Canva, and Seesaw
- Track co-teaching work using appropriate tools, for example, a log or record of collaboration; and providing coaching program updates as appropriate to peers
- Maintain resources and communicate TILM-related information to LS faculty, staff, and parents.
- Provide relevant and timely technical and instructional support
- Supervise and chaperone students for lunch, recess, field trips and transition times
- Attend all team meetings and all relevant faculty meetings
- Participate actively in the life of the School, through attendance at events, committee membership, and leadership of extracurricular activities
- Perform other duties within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the job, as requested by the Lower School Principal and Director of Technology.
