The Rivers School — a 6-12 co-ed independent day school in Weston, MA, just outside Boston — seeks professionals who are looking to join a dynamic, innovative, and welcoming school community.

Your Impact

Rivers inspires every student to pursue excellence, thrive in a community of connection and belonging and create their own path to a life of impact and purpose. As a technology service specialist, you will play an instrumental role in ensuring technology use by community members expands and accelerates our collective ability to live out the school’s mission. You’ll accomplish this by providing one-on-one technical support, developing technology training for students and employees, and assisting the technology department in developing improved service offerings. Through your efforts, you will help folks feel comfortable and confident when working with technology and seeking services from the technology department.

It is a particularly exciting time to join the Rivers technology team. Our school has always been an institution on the move, willing to implement new approaches to best serve the needs of students. Our newly released strategic plan doubles down on that call to action and specifically notes the need to ensure we “incorporate emerging technologies to enhance the learning process while guiding students to navigate these new tech frontiers.” You will help us meet this strategic priority.

How you will thrive in this role:

Putting People First: You put people first by actively listening, showing empathy, asking questions, and meeting each person where they are with technology.

Clearly and Effectively Communicating: Whether working one-on-one with a community member, writing a document for our knowledge base, or delivering training to a roomful of people, you communicate in ways folks can understand, learn from, and take action.

Problem Solving: Combining your technical knowledge with your desire to find solutions, you attack the opportunity to individually and collaboratively solve problems and seek improvements.

Showing Relentless Curiosity: You show an excitement to learn and explore all things related to our current technology stack, emerging technology, and all aspects of the school.

Exhibiting Purposeful Ambition: You set meaningful and ambitious goals while pursuing them with both energy, care, and joy.

Experiences that will support your success:

  • Serving as an administrator within Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Canvas, Blackbaud, and Zoom.
  • Fluency with Google Workspace, M365, macOS, and iOS.
  • Administering a mobile device management platform (Mosyle preferred)
  • Working with generative AI models and tools to expand the scope and quality of your work.
  • At least 2 years of working in a technology department that provides support services to employees, students, and/or customers.

What your work will look like:

  • Respond to, monitor, and close technology service requests
  • Add and manage content of the technology knowledge bases: Technology Service Center and the Teachers’ Tech Bar Course
  • Collaborate and partner with academic leaders and teachers to support meaningful and safe integration of technology into the academic program
  • Collaborate with the Director of Technology & Innovation on designing and implementing technology-related training for students and teachers
  • Create technology department standard operating procedures
  • Provide insight and ideas on how the technology department can continue to provide better service
  • Help vet and test new software and hardware
  • Maintain inventory as appropriate
  • Support events on an as-needed basis
  • Support AV needs for assemblies and classroom use
  • Provide support for the ongoing maintenance of printers and printer software
  • Support technology department initiatives as needed

Additional Information

  • This is a 12-month position.
  • The position requires occasional availability beyond traditional working hours to address emergent or critical operational needs, which can include, but is not limited to, security incident response, supporting software and hardware deployments, and resolving system issues.
