Interim Director of Information Technology

The Interim Director of Information Technology is responsible for providing the vision, leadership, and management of all academic and information technology systems and services to advance the mission of The Agnes Irwin School. In coordination with the senior leadership team, this interim role is involved with the practical implementation of the strategic direction in the academic program and operations of the school.

Reporting to the Assistant Head of School, the Interim Director of Technology is expected to provide dynamic leadership, vision and direction for school-wide technology. Working with administrative and division heads, department leaders, academic department chairs and the Innovation Team, this individual will support innovative instructional practices amongst the faculty, and work with all heads of departments to promote the thoughtful evolution and integration of technology across all areas of school life—instructional, administrative, and others. As the head of the IT department, the Director will provide guidance and leadership to the team to cultivate an innovative and customer-service oriented departmental culture that effectively supports the technology needs of students, faculty, staff and administrators in the school. 

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, Inspire, Collaboratively and Strategically lead an internal  team of two in addition to a part time network consultant.

• Collaborate with the other senior leaders of the school and within cross-functional teams to understand the schools’ challenges in order to deliver solutions that deliver measurable results.

• Collaborate closely with academic leaders to support technological innovation in classrooms.

• Participate in and lead school management discussions around IT initiatives, including project scoping, project approval, project execution, cost management, and all internal and external relationships related to technology platforms.

• Inspire the technology team and the faculty to model and support best practices in innovation, technology integration, and instructional design.

• Ensure for the performance, maintenance, and integrity of all technology systems with a focus on innovation, security and efficiency.

• Serve as the school's primary project manager for school-wide technology projects.

• Manages operations of mission-critical systems and technology platforms.

• Sets policy, regulations, system standards, and operating procedures for use of technology.

• Manages the Data & Analytics Strategy.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related quantitative field strongly required; advanced degree preferred.

• 10+ years of progressive IT professional experience, including experience at a management level with supervision of customer-service oriented teams and budget oversight responsibilities.

• Strong understanding and technical knowledge in areas of academic and information technology.

• Proven experience in IT infrastructure strategic planning, delivery, project management, and policy development.

• Proven experience designing enterprise Information Security policy and operating Information technical environments.

• Action oriented, “hands-on” project leader who plans and executes in detail, making difficult decisions and taking end-to-end responsibility for achieving results.

• Experience working in K-12 schools, higher ed or as a classroom teacher (or equivalent) is preferred.
